Hi everyone,
Im new here and just getting use to now to the layout. I always wanted to get into racing and i love mr2. So step by step im gonna go for it. As i do not own one of mr2 yet, my first question gonna be; what i should be looking to buy and what is rev1 rev2 or rev3 (intrested in mk2). should i be looking at the turbo ones :?:

Thanks allot Rowland that's was exactly what I was looking for. So from what i read in this topic I came into a decision where I should be looking at 3SGE engine and probably at rev3 going upwards as only from rev3 it comes to 173bhp. please tell me if I'm wrong, as all comments is welcome

By coincidence I saw this car in the metal yesterday as the guy was also selling a pair of grp wings which I picked up yesterday. The guy (Steve) seems straight up from what I could tell and needs to sell his mk2 to get the money. I can't comment on the mileage however.

No offence taken buddy.

:D

Not sure exactly how you're reading into the fact that the car may have been clocked?
Do you not think the seats, interior, and steering wheel wear in the photographs look consistent with an 82k mile car perhaps?
82,000 would be considered relatively low mileage but not drastically low.

In my experience of buying well over a dozen MR2's I often source my cars from enthusiasts from the various MR2 Owners Clubs.
The MR2 community has been strong for many years and the members generally speaking, decent folks.
You stand a far better chance of buying a more honest car from an MR2 enthusiast / Owners Club member, than say for instance off Pistonheads, Auto Trader eBay etc.

The white one in the advert drew my attention because it's a very good price and virtually ticks all the boxes for an ideal mk2 race car.
Steve the owner is a straight-up fella, and unless you've got deep pockets and would prefer a rev 4-5 car at £2,500-£3,500+ I'd say it's well worth a look.

Hope this helps!

You would however need to change the wheels as they do not conform to the regs.

I'm just thinking about costs of running this dream :?: , I'm not afraid to put all I got in to it, but I will need to be careful not to end up sitting on the street or sleeping in the car, as you know is not much space in there.

Hi its steve here who's selling the car discussed.

Its a good reliable straight car, bit tatty body front, driver side wings been resprayed and driver door, I only noticed that several months after I got it when polishing it (others who've seen the car say better than most its age) hence the price. I've always been more concerned how the car runs rather than looks. Since the cars come to me 18 months ago i've replace oil with 5-50w Fully synthetic motorsport oil, new filter, replace intake with Jetex carbon fibre cold air intake, new handbrake cables, new front discs and pads, replace some bling 17" non staggered alloys with staggered 16" MR2 specific alloys (16X7 ET32 & 16 x8 ET35) with Century motorsport marangoni tyres. It came with a mongoose stainless exhaust (cat in place) thats still on the car and fensport lowering springs.

Coolant levels never changed and it doesn't use any oil whatsoever.

Its been my daily driver doing 40 B road miles a day all weathers and been 100% reliable. I'm only getting rid as I came into the position of getting something a bit more special so bought a VX220.

Image

I transfered insurance from it to my VX and so its now just sat taking up space on my drive and I can't drive it as a result so needs to go.

It'd make a good race car.

I'm sure the 16's Kei Office wheels could be sold for £300+ (I paid £300 for the bare alloys 16 months ago).

I like the idea of it becoming a race car, better than a chav wrapping it round a tree :) I tracked it at Castle Combe 16 hours after buying it.

Complete with bling wheels and tints (removed except rear window as thats usefull to stop getting blinded)
