hi there, i came to brands to see the couple of rounds there & was inspired to get myself a car. Have purchased a 1994 rev 3 G-limited mk 2 jap import. Took it round brands last thursday, good handling but a bit down on power, think the exhaust is blowing near the manifold.
So having a new one fitted and decatted. What has to be done to the oxeygen sensor any help would useful. Can it jsut be blanked off or will it bring up an engine management light, will the ecu then compensate for this and effect the performance?
hope to be out there next year after i've done my ards & prept the car.
cheers

Hi Lee,
Welcome to the Championship! I think you may be a little confused with your exhaust issue though. The lambda sensor has four wires coming out of it - if the sensor you're looking at has a single wire and is located in the cat pipe then it is an overheat warning sensor and you can bin it with no problems. It's only connected to a light on the dashboard, which won't come on if it's not there...
Cheers,
Patrick

Thanks Patrick
I,ve now had the new exhaust fitted sucessfully with the lambda sensor removed, was told some missinformation there!
Where is the best place to source a roll cage from & how much should it cost? i've had a look on the safty dervice's web site but they don't seem to list one on there for the MR2.
Also how much weight will it add to the car? I got my car weighed at brands & it came out at 1252 kg with me in it.
Any help would be much appreciated.
cheers

Sounds like your car needs to shed a few kilos. The weight for the championship spec is 1200 kg. But I am assuming it's still got all the trim on it?

yeah most of it! passenger seat, door trim's, heater unit & a/c.
Could save a bit of weight there but the carpet, roof linning & rear trim panel's have been removed.
