Silverstone - What will be the new lap record?

Postby Andrei on Wed Aug 19, 2009 10:27 am

Hi guys

A bit quiet at work today  so thought of kicking off a quick sweepstake...

What do you think will be the new lap record at Silverstone this weekend (assuming the Met Office got the forecast right as dry)?

Post your answers here... Could chip in a tenner each for some added excitement?

I reckon 1.10.3

Cheers,

Andrei

Coincidentally just finished a discussion with a mobile telecomms supplier and fellow pertrolhead and I would not be surpised if we drop into the high 9's. I'll guess at 1:09.7

Yes, that's a fair shout. "Registered Drivers" only.

Well, my guess was wildly off the mark, but not as much as yours John, so you owe me 10 quid

Andrei - gonna have to refer you back to your trusty Oxford dictionary - "Could throw in a tenner" implies there is an option not to.

Mark - Congrats on that time. I had a feeling the 1:10.15 and 1:10.54 my timer showed me on Fri may have been due to someone else's beacon!

It was great having Paul O'Neill along for the ride, we had some big fun in the All-comers race! I hope Anthony's camera was running OK!

I know it is rather unfair to expect anyone to jump straight into one of our cars and expect them to win straight out of the box, but I can't help thinking that Patrick's idea has been a complete win-win. Paul can walk away having had a good taster of our club racing with a couple of very good finishes and all of us can now measure ourselves against a 'proper' racer. 'Ere, we are pretty good ain't we!!?

I hope none of our 'antics' on track scared him off!!

Can't wait to see his article.

Just finished a little RearCam footage of the MR2 race. I think you'll like it!

Up in an hour.........

Track records only count in race situations. Sorry Andrei.

Yep, I just checked and I have the footage. Hopefully I'll get some time this evening to edit it down so that I can post it on YouTube shortly.

I know, Rob

But, however unofficial it might be, I am enjoying the thought of having beaten the BTCC man and our new Champ! :P

Just downloaded my data from the DL1 data logger. Using the Friday's testing, Quali and the Race, the best theoretical lap (sum of best sectors) is 1.10.35!!

Never managed to pull it all together on one real lap though

Arrgh! - away at work and Youtube is blocked (and quite right too!) so I have just tried watching via GoToMyPC - it's a bit like watching a Powerpoint Slideshow! Roll on lunchtime!

Thanks Anthony
