This issue marks our third year of publishing MR2 Only Magazine, and what a great issue it is, a show and meet extravaganza, with coverage of both UK and overseas events. A great issue to sit and reflect fondly on what has been a great year for the MR2 community. JAE organisers certainly pulled it off with their new venue for 09, with a massive MR2 turnout, and a good time had been had by all by all, the weather held out for us at Jap Show Finale, with further MR2 successes from Roy Ashby in the HKS drag street series, hot on the tail of Nathan Freke, a fitting end to the UK club scene for 09. Overseas we’ve covered 3 great overseas events, firstly the sixth annual Pac NW MR2 held in Medford, Oregon, an all action and show event attracting a diverse crowd from as far as Washington, California and even British Columbia.

We also have the Annual Canadian MR2 Experience synonymous with the MR2 community in North America which is in its 7th consecutive year, a 3 day event offering attendees autocross, show and shine, and a cruise night.

Just as we were finalising this issue I had an exciting email from Geoff Grice MR2 Drivers (http://www.mr2.ie) who had recently returned home from the North America meet in Texas, a write up and photos that were too good an opportunity to miss, so a re-shuffle was in order to make the page space.

Just flicking through the events covered in this issue, it’s plain to see there’s a good few future feature cars that I hope will be contacting us, if not I’m sure we will be hunting them down.

Moving on to our feature MR2s this issue, our cover car is CMRE09 show winner Mike Zuliani, a 93 teal-green Mk2 Turbo, an outstanding show car having the sound, the show, and indeed the go, with an engine that is second to none.

Our Mk1 offering must be the most stunning, original example I’ve laid my eyes on, original yet on closer inspection has some very tasteful and innovative modifications bringing this timeless classic right up to modern day. Owner Jimi is well know for his throttle bracket conversion.

We also have featured Simon Sweete’s stunning grey Lambo doored Mk2 N/A which I had the pleasure of seeing and photographing myself at JAE and having glimpsed through Simon’s project file during the show, it was without a doubt a feature car, and what’s more impressive is that Simon’s completed 95% of the work to his MR2 himself, amazing what you can achieve with a vision, patience and commitment.

Last but not least all the way from Hong Kong we have Teddy Yuen’s Ferrari red 2ZZ powered Mk3, a car that has seen many changes under Teddy’s ownership, yet again affirming the Mk3 as a serious styling and tuning contender.

As always we have some great coverage of the Toyota Sprint Series, and both Mk1 and Mk2 racing, as well as a few great technical features.

Over the past month, we’ve finally found some time to uncover and brush the cobwebs off our own Mk1 project. With a donor engine on the bench being stripped and rebuilt, we’re maing good progress with a view to entering the car into the Toyota Sprint Series for 2010.

Issue 18 being our third birthday may mean that after this issue you have come to the end of your current subscription and with more great feature MR2s lined up for the next issue and well into 2010, be sure to re-subscribe and not miss an issue.
