Updated Proposal for 2010 Suspension Regulations

Postby Rogue on Fri Aug 14, 2009 9:27 am

Hi All,

Following the feedback to the previous proposals (available to view in the driver's lounge) the committee have again discussed plans for next year and have come up with the following revised proposals for class B:

Dampers may only be of the following type:

Standard Toyota
Bilstein Toyota (Black)
Bilstein B6 (Yellow)

No modifications may be made at all to the Bilstein dampers. Standard Toyota dampers may have the oil changed, and the specification of that oil is free - no other modifications are permitted.

Regulations for springs are to remain as 2009.

Suspension droop will be defined in the regulations as a measurement, with a tolerance. (This should be moot, since no modifications are permitted to the dampers that would alter droop, but allows an easy method of policing).

Bump stops may be rubber or plastic and are subject to minimum and maximum heights. The number of bump stops per damper is free but the combination may not exceed the limits given.

Constructive feedback welcome.

Regards,

Patrick Mortell

I'm happy with that Patrick. It would be nice to have a drivers chat, like we have done before over driving standards, at silverstone. Just to see if there are any really desenting voices in the ranks of the computer illiterate. We'll have plenty of time for it after all! It's good that we can sort it in an adult way . . . and if i dont get my way then i'll scream till i'm sick! :D

Fair enough.

What are the differences between the three sets of dampers?

(as you said constructive I'll not harp on about the vote :) - you'll only claim proportonal represention for ousting the democratically selected 'remaining unchanged' equal winning score!! He-he!! :P )

I must try this as a way of kicking out the lib dems in our next local election!!!

The Bilstein Dampers have a slightly larger body than the standard Toyota units and are welded shut at the top. The B6 dampers are valved to be slightly stiffer than the Bilsteins made by Toyota.

The poll wasn't a vote a vote as such - it was simply intended to gather opinions (as per the text in my post). The opinion of two thirds of the drivers who expressed a preference was to have more control.

Thanks for that Patrick.

All behind us now :)

Might have a go at matching some custom springs to a set of B6s this winter.
