MR2 Championship

Hey guys, i just started working at the Race Centre in Chandlers Ford near Southampton, and keep thinking it would be the perfect place for a social meet up at some point during this season. Its basically a big room full of racing simulators, all national and internation tracks, 100+ cars, very very realistic and you can even bring your own booze.

Just thought it would be a good end of season party place or even just to meet up and have a good time.

And just to proove how realistic it is, many professional racing teams come to test out car settings and tracks before they actually go there! For instance Diasuke Nakagima was in last week testing at Hockenhiem.

PS. Snett track layout looks a bit funny Is this how it looked before Jonathan Palmer took over it?

Its very cool, my Job title is Race Controller, so i effectively run each event and give driver briefings.

We have both the new and old versions of most tracks, but there not all on the web site. So it may be the old version you looked at.

Looks very interesting and would be great to go down as a proper racing series and fight it out in a virtual battle. If you can find out some prices for me Richard I can potentially look at getting a magazine involved to cover the event.

Ok guys, as far as pricing goes, the general rule is - more people = less £ per head.

So for Grand Prix Heats (Qualify then X amount of quick fun races).
5-10 Drivers
- 2 hours = £35 per head
- 3 hours = £45 per head

11-20 drivers
- 2 hours = £32 ph
- 3 hours = £39 ph
- 4 hours = £46 ph

21-30 Drivers
- 3 hours = £30ph
- 4 hours = £35 ph
- 5 hours = £40ph

Or.... there is the option for a team endurance race (wich i highly recomend!)

3 hours = £75 per team
4 hours = £100 per team
5 hours = £125 per team
6 hours = £150 per team

FORMAT

GRAND PRIX HEATS
Basicaly, everone has 15-20 mins to practice and qualify. Then we fit in as many races as possible until our time runs out. Is a championship type format, so most points at the end of the event wins.
Cars we use for this the most are 1965 - 69 F1 cars. Mainly used is the 1965 Ferrari as its good fun and gives close racing.

TEAM ENDURANCE
This format is my personal favorite, as you can choose any kind of car (from Formular BMW to Mini Coopers... or a 2007 F1 car ) and any circuit in the world. I once did Porche Carrera GT Cars at Monza and after 2 hours of racing, our team finished only 2.5 seconds behind the winners . The race includes proper pit stops and LeMan style driver changes, and each team can decide when the car comes in for fuel and tires and who drives each stint.

I think this will be the most fun and cheapest option if we can get good numbers for 10 teams.

For Example
5 Hour Event - 30 mins practice per team, 4 hour Race.
Teams of 4 people = £31.25 per head.
