Roll Cages

Post here if you want to discuss or clarify any of the rules governing the MR2 Championship. This also includes the MSA blue book.

Roll Cages

Postby EDM on Tue May 19, 2009 2:15 pm

I notice in the MR2 regs regarding roll cages, (Chassis: 5.5) that there is no stipulation of the number of roll cage feet allowed.

750 MC Golf Gti's and stock hatch state the max number of feet as six. Stock hatch also allowing front suspension triangulation. And Gti's must have bolted feet.

MSA book drawing 1 (4 point) with compulsory door bars, then makes this a minimum of 6 points.

(From 5.5) 'no other attachment to the bodyshell is permitted even if provided by the cage manufacturer' ..would suggest a maximum of 6 fixing points the the shell.

If 6 points ARE the maximum allowed, could I suggest that this is written into the relevant section of the regs for 2010, just for clarification.

Hi Elliot,

You are correct - class B and C cars must use a six point roll cage. Class A cars may use a five or six point cage.

I will clarify the rules and amend for 2010.

Hi Tony,

Yes, as long as the cage meets both Championship and MSA regulations there are no restrictions on where you procure your roll cage.
