Britcar 24hr 2009

Looks like it's been pulled forward to April! Apparently they couldn't get the usual September slot.

Suits me - we're champing at the bit to have another go!

I think I read that they are thinking of reducing it to a 6hr race given falling entries, costs and the credit crunch.

An email went round from Britcar HQ yesterday with a provisional date of 2nd - 4th October 2009, so it looks like all is well again!

Highlights of this year's race go out tonight on Sky Sports Extra at 6pm, repeated tomorrow at 2am and also on Sky Sports 3 tomorrow at 10am and 3pm.

I didn't get to watch it! Tuned in all expectant and excited only to remember I don't subscribe to the Sports channels! Anthony's recorded it though, so hopefully he'll distribute it..!

Oops, all I seem to have recorded is the message telling me that I am not subscribed to Sky Sports

so between the three of us, none of us subscribe to Sky Sports!!!! I asked my ex-wife to record it (I've not missed the irony that she subscribes to it and I don't!) and the next time I'm given visitation rights to my dog I'll check it out!!

I see that it is now confirmed as a six hour race in 2009 from 4pm - 10pm and called the Britcar 500....... Something to do with the current economic climate.

Will the Rogue MR2 MKIII beast be running again?

You will definitely see our Britcar mk3 out in a six hour race this year, but probably not the Britcar 500 since we would need to add dry-break fuelling at an expense of thousands of pounds. It's already a really expensive event!

That said, if the 24hr event does indeed return in 2010 expect to see more than one MR2 Roadster entry...
