Rain light specification

Postby Andrei on Thu Feb 19, 2009 10:43 pm

I heard that for 2009 the rain light needs to be to FIA spec.

Is this the case?

Sounds expensive! Especially reading one of the earlier posts which claims that the use of the rain light is "recommended" rather than "compalsory".

Thanks for clarifying.

I believe so - I'm not taking any chances and have bought an FIA approved rain light for the mk3 from Demon Tweeks.
It's this one I think...

That is what I heard as well so when I was building my car back in the summer I put the "Lifeline" rainlight on mine. I had a look on the Demon Tweeks site and you can get one from them but it is more expensive than the one Rowland has found. I think you can get them cheaper direct from Lifeline.

The other option is to see if GPR have any. I called in there on Monday as it is only 10 minutes away and they were up and running again. They were doing a stock take and said anything they didn't have that they were going to continue to supply they'd have next week. Good that they are back but I think it is going to be more clothing, helmet and seat/steering wheel focused in future.

Regulation [C(c)] 69, 70 & 71 apply here. There appears to be no requirement for them to FIA approved.
