Technical issues relating to mk1 MR2 Championship Race cars

It's an eligibility issue rather than a safety one, so I guess the thing you need to bare in mind is that it makes your car technically ineligible and open to protest from another driver...

Have you tried taking your wallet out before you go out on circuit? bound to save a few kilos there

I did get a surprise last season when my phone started to ring/vibrate in my pocket as I entered Coram! No fears about my wallet though since I started racing it only weighs a couple of ounces

Sorry Nick,
sounds like you have it all covered. I'm going back on Slimmer's World - It's not faddy, you eat good food and it works - I will lose best part of 7.5kg before we get to Snetterton.
Won't start until tomorrow though...

My car is amazingly light, but I am not sure I can point to what makes it so. (Empty it is a mere 940kg or so I am told). It does have half the nuts holding the wings on though, I noticed that (LOL). But I still have an unmodified engine lid and bonnet.

Thanks for everyones input so far, with the exception of the Slimmers World and Riveta sugestions which quite frankly are silly and the surgery option is more appealing!! My body is a temple and will not be treated in such a sensible & healthy mannor.

Anyway, following a trip to the Autosport show on Sunday and hopefully some last minute sugestions from all of you, we will be taking the grinder to the car the following weekend for a final push on the weight reduction.

Once we have a final figure of savings I will post the value of the cheque RSW will be writing for the marshals fund, together with my target diet loss (which wont happen! ) so if there are any last minute sugestions there is still time and they will be much appreciated.

Hi Blocky - no wonder you kept pipping me on the finish line!

I have put on a stone since last year's medical - my GP went ballistic! Mind you - he is over 17stone himself!

I shall be using strong laxatives to reduce weight next year!

Well the weight saving is complete and whilst we have not weighed the car yet we have weighed the parts taken out which came to a considerable 6.5 kilos.

So £65 will be donated to the marshals fund :D and now I have to loose 6.5 kilos before Snetterton   I might need some of Woolfies laxatives!

Today I finished the cars diet.
Weighed the offending items, an impressive 9kg's
With that and my 9kg's of Lead ballast out and running a little less fuel I hope to be around 1025kg's.
Just me to loose a little more weight now...
