Oulton Park Allcomers

Postby TokyoDave #38 on Sun Sep 06, 2009 3:09 pm

Well done to Dave Cross for being the best of the MR2's on Saturday, and to Lee and James for the close racing.
I've solved the mystery of my lack of race pace (2.07.04 qualifying / 2.10.57 race). :? Note to self... make sure the front roll bar is still attached! It seems the drop link hadn't been tightened up during a recent repair, the bottom nut had come off during the warm up lap. Come to think of it I did hear a clonk while warming the tyres up, it must have been then that it popped out. Because the problem seemed to be at the back; no grip out of the corners and very oversteery mid corner, I only inspected the rear bar and didn't think to look at the front. Had I of looked, I may have made something of the second race! Lesson learnt

Thanks to Dave Henderson for pointing me in the right direction.

Blimey Dave (B), that could have ended in tears! Didn't someone puncture an inner sidewall like that a couple of years ago?

Well done to DC for bringing it home. I think this now gives us the 2009 team title for "750MC N/A Mr2 in AllComers races" :)

Compared to my efforts this year, in his 7 races in the car this year, Dave has had only 1 contact incident (at Croft) where he sadly lost the driver's side rear indicator. Sadly these are very rare but I have tracked one down for £1750.00 on Ebay

Thanks Mate,
.. but I sensed you weren't running at full chat so I look forward to trading times at the Birkett.

I thouroughly enjoyed Oulton and I was delighted to find that I wasn't blown away by the 'regulars'.

Cheers,
Dave

Was a pleasure to be with you gents.

I know how you felt David. As you should remember actually. my strut failed to the same end, no ARB on front, at Cadwell. handling slowly got more difficult as rear tyre temps rocketed due to problem.

I had a great day and really enjoyed all on track battles. I have added a link to part of the second race video so you can have a look. plenty of fun and shows Lee making a great overtake just before our "kiss", metaphorically of course (6.15 in vid)!!! Think i did quite well to get keep it on track but glad you had no damage Lee and apologies for shaking you up.

Enjoyed the vid James, reminded me of the sudden buttock clenching moment just after the start when I realised I was rapidly closing on a stationary ( and v expensive ) Radical!

Thanks boys for leaving room for me to swerve around it!

Dave.

Cheers for the comments chaps. You would be able to see the speed if my speedo hadn't decided to have a day off!
All these suspension problems i've had seem to have improved my slide catching' abilities lol.

No problem Lee. I expect these things to happen really. Just glad with a both cars are alright and no one went off properly. watching the vid that barrier looks even closer ha ha.

Might not make it to Snet. My boss is giving me a hard time so need to put attention onto work so don't think i'll have time on car but if i don't make it i hope everyone has a great day

cheers
