Technical issues relating to mk3 MR2 Championship Race cars

Mk3 build

Postby jnoiles on Mon Feb 09, 2009 4:01 pm

Would anyone be able to point me to the tech rules for building a mk3 mr2 for the mr2 championship? Very curious to see what is/isn't allowed.

cheers

Hi Jason,

You can download the regulations from here:

Any specific questions, please shout up.

Cheers,

Thanks! A couple of quick questions, although I'm sure I'll have a million more as time goes on:

- Are the mk3 cars run with hard tops fitted?
- Is there a preferred manufacturer or supplier of rollcages?
- Can aftermarket wheels be lighter than standard and if so is there a tolerance +/- that is allowed by regs?
- Are the dash and instruments the only interior items that have to be retained (provided the doors have ally panels)?
- Regarding induction, is the entire induction open to interpretation, ie, can a silicon or carbon induction system be fitted or is it only filters than can be changed (from standard to K&N etc)?

cheers

They can be run with soft tops, hard tops or no tops at all!

At present, there's only one supplier of mk3 roll cages... and it's me!

There's no restriction on how light the wheels can be. The only restriction is that they can't be made from magnesium.

That is correct.

Anything pre-throttle body can be changed. A lot of people favour an enclosed filter design.
