Technical issues relating to mk2 MR2 Championship Race cars

mk1 superchargers

as the mk1's are becoming thinner on the ground is there a case for allowing them to run superchargers (a standard car) so that the field is leveled a little. also it would be a new attraction for perspective racers. where else could you run them? wouldn't you like to see how they would go?

Hi Ben,

A mk1 supercharger was trialled in the MR2 Challenge a few years ago. The main problem with the supercharged mk1 is that there aren't really enough of them in the UK to make up a grid - they're a very sought after car and not many owners would want to go wheel-to-wheel in them.

The speed differential between a normally aspirated and forced induction MR2 is significant as well, more so when it comes to the turbocharged mk2s. It would essentially kill off the MR2 Championship as we know it.

That said, I am planning something for next year that will cater for forced induction and modified MR2s so if this is something that you're interested in, please drop me a PM.
