Not this year, Oulton park appears on our calender by rotation so I think we'll be back there next year.

Hi chaps recieved an email from donnington today regarding another issue i had with them regarding circuit closure

i also mentioned 750 pulling out in september

they seem to be of the view that its all down to 750 pulling out and not at all to do with them , they can not see a reason

i,m a bit gutted because its my home circuit , would have been nice to try and make it my first meeting

so what is the official reason :?

Hi Tony,
please see my post dated 19th May in this thread - I think 750MC "jumped" because they expected to get "pushed".

This may prove to have been wrong but they did not know at the time and needed to guarantee that they would be able to run a doubnle-header on that date.

From what donnington have said to me it seems they (750) have jumped for no real reason ( of yet )

i,ve had a couple of issues with them at the start of the year ( sorted now )

it does seem in donningtons quest to hold f1 they are willing to sacrifice the so called little fish races

but after receiving the email i,m not so sure

they have made a few cock ups at the start of the year i agree, but i think panic sets in and everyone jumps

there reply to me was ( you ask 750 why they pulled out because we dont know) genuine answer or not ?

cant help to start feeling a little sorry for donnington

or is all not as it seems :?

I don't think there is any sinister conspiracy. I think it was a straight forward horrendous cock-up which could and should have been avoided. Perhaps this shook people's confidence in the way that Donington was being run? I would like to have supported them but the £4000 price tag was a bit steep! - perhaps they should have offered 1mtr sponsored squares of the circuit for a tenner?

I am also gutted as it is also pretty much my most local circuit and one of the jewels in the crown of British motor racing. I was really looking forward to a double header on its "original" layout - especially after my DNF last year when my clutch failed.

I have to attend a wedding on the Saturday and was trying to find a way of qualifying and doing at least one of the races but the move to Snett has put this out of reach.

At the end of the day, a difficult and unpopular decision had to be made at a certain point in time. I thought there was a bit about this in a recent 750 Bulletin mag, but I'm sure if you send in an email, they will have a response for you.

To my way of thinking they jumped too soon as I would have loved to race at Donington again.

However the 750MC are a commercial operation and if it were my business I would have done the same thing in order to protect the income from a race meeting.

This has proved to be a good call by the 750 Club! Just got the following notification from Funcup, who were scheduled to have a 7-hour race there in Sep...

Donington Park 2009

It is with regret that I am emailing to inform you, our race at Donington Park on September 12th will no longer go ahead, as it would appear they have finally secured the full amount of funding required for the F1 project. Unfortunately, they are now closing the circuit earlier than anticipated and will be starting redevelopment work before the 12th September. This is a huge shame for Fun Cup, as we anticipated forty plus cars on the grid, with thirteen foreign entries already confirmed, as well as thirty UK entries at least.
