MR2 Championship

Hi All,

Just a note to let you know that BTCC driver Paul O'Neill will be joining us for the Silverstone round. He will be driving a Team Rogue Racing hire car and will be reviewing the MR2 Championship for Motorsport News. Obviously, he will not be scoring any championship points!

That's great news. It should "spice things up a bit" (sorry for the Spice Girls reference but someone had to say it).
The guys at the front will I am sure, relish the opportunity to measure up against a BTCC driver.

I spent most of sunday watching the BTCC races from Snett on ITV4 ....'Twas fantastic racing and Paul 'Neil did ok ! a 3rd , 5th and 5th I think ..

I'd never heard of him before ...I didn't realise he was mixing it with the other Neal, Plato , Giovanardi , Thompson and Turkington ....

This is fantastic for the MR2 championship .....

I'm telling my sponsors that 'we ' are racing with BTCC drivers .....(slight exaggeration but strictly true )..should be worth something !!

I think of the Silverstone national as a bit of a 'filler' event, particularly as it's a single race (and so close to home)...but now it's turning into one of the highlights of the season for me ...

Wonder if he'll have std suspension ....

Hats off to Patrick for arranging it / coming up with the idea ...

Has that feature article been published yet???

Not yet Andrei,

I get a subscription copy each week and have been looking out for it.

Because the article doesn't have a time-limit on it as such, I guess they are holding it until other features or Big News stories have died down.

Given that it is not in this week, the ideal timing (for us) will now be the w/c 5th Oct to help publicise the final round at Mallory. this may be what they have in mind, but there is aways the risk of another big story about Jenson vs Rubens punch-ups, Renault-gate, Donington-gate (or tunnel) etc, etc.

Looks like you'll have to suffer the glares of your local WH Smith checkout girl for another couple of weeks .
ALso look like you and I will be sharing a points-free Saturday this week.
