MR2 Championship

Hi All,

750MC are now taking entries for this year's 6hr Birkett Relay race and as per last year we're on the international circuit.

For those that don't know, the Birkett is a handicapped relay event for teams of four to six similar specification car. Only one driver from each team can be out on the circuit at a time and once they've passed the team garage in the pits another member of the team can then leave and join the circuit. A number of credit laps is given to each team based on their individual lap times, so in theory all teams should finish on the same lap.

In previous years, MR2 teams have done very well - winning their respective classes and finishing as high as third overall. Last year we entered a total of four MR2 Championship teams.

This time out, I'm going to let people choose their own teams - though I'm still more than happy to help out with the organisation if required. The best thing to do therefore is to post up on this thread to indicate your willingness to join a team and then discuss it amongst yourselves. Once you've decided on a team, name it and I'll post it up here. Remember that you must have four, five or six drivers in your team and that the £1200 entry fee must be split between you.

Additionally, I'm putting together a team of modified MR2s which still requires members. This is for roadgoing MR2s of any mk, with any specification of normally aspirated, supercharged or turbocharged Toyota engine. I will have a 300bhp mk2 turbo and a 200bhp mk3 n/a available to hire - please contact me for more information.

I raced in one of the MR2 Teams last year and am very keen to join the fun again this year.

I have been racing this year in John Wilson's car #77 in a couple of the Northern Sports and Saloons championship rounds.

I would be using #77 as John will be away on holiday.

I would either use #77 when Dave Cross is not, or perhaps consider a rental of another car for Dave or myself.

It's along story ..in a nutshell, the wilson and marsh family were going to Mallorca on the day of the Birkett....and now thx to some Machiavellian manouvering (and gorgeous understanding wifes ! ) we're now doing the birkett ..and we're catching up with our families the next day ..flying out on the sunday ...

So, any teams out there needing a driver and car (I'm Free !) ..would really like to join the original Northants team (Dawn GP) , but appreciate you may be a bit full ......
