2010 Calendar?

Postby Andrei on Tue Aug 25, 2009 9:53 pm

Patrick

Any thoughts on what circuits will feature on the calendar next year?

Or is this all set by the Club?

How many races?

Could we look at making all meetings double-headers please for cost efficiency? Could we consider doing triple-headers like the MX5 boys done this year?

Thanks for the info,

Andrei

The circuits available to us are selected by the 750MC, but we do have some input into where we go.

We've requested a visit to Castle Combe next year, which would be as a guest of another club. The Championship should also visit Oulton Park, since we didn't go there this year. Beyond that, have a look at the main 750MC calendar to see the circuits that the club visits and shout if there's one that we haven't been to that you like the look of.

We'll have as many double headers as possible - as we did this year - but there's no guarantee that every meeting will be one. Triple headers may be possible (I'll ask the question) but I know the Ma5da guys have scrutineering and qualifying on one day and then three races the next which would mean an overnight stay and more expense.

Thanks for that Patrick!

Will have a look.

Thruxton is a fab circuit! Bloody fast  But very flowing!

Personally I strongly prefer the 1-day format and min overnights.

Bloody hell! If we went to Castle Combe that would be one venue with under a five hour drive!!

Unfortunately the earliest you may start seeing calendars is late Jan - but they are provisional and have been known to change!

Hence if you look at this year's calendar, you will see it referred to as "plan B"

Just got my copy of the 750MC magazine, in which Robin makes a point that he will have had announced the 2010 fixture and also published the Regs by his return from holiday on 26 November.

I've checked the Club's website but there is nothing.

Is there an update please?

There is no update at the moment - dates are still fluid.

As soon as I have confirmed dates, rest assured they will be posted on the forum immediately.

One wonders if the Donnington/Silverstone situations are slowing arrangments down? Mind you Robin said he didn't think anything would be out till mid December.

The following dates have been released with the regulations:

March 14th - Snetterton - Double Header
April 5th Castle Combe - Double Header
May 30th Anglesey - Double Header
June 19th Brands - Double Header
Jluy 11th Cadwell - Double Header
August 28th Silverstone - Single Header
Sep 19th Snetterton - Double Header
Oct 2nd Oulton - Single Header

I think these may still be provisional.

Hi Patrick. I realise that these are probably still provisional dates (although it seems to be stated as fact in the regulations "The MR2 Championship will be contested over the following rounds:") but it also has either/or dates such as March 13/14, May 29/30, July 10/11 and September 18/19. Are the days you have quoted the more likely in these split option weekends?

many thanks,

Rob

p.s. any idea when the Birkett relay will be and will it be at Silverstone again?

Update:

March 14th - Snetterton - Double Header
April 5th Castle Combe - Double Header
May 30th Anglesey - Double Header
June 20th Brands - Double Header
July 11th Cadwell - Double Header
August 29th Silverstone - Single Header
Sep 19th Snetterton - Double Header
October 17th Mallory Park - Single Header

October 30th Silverstone - Birkett Relay Race

These dates are accurate as of 12:00 today - I'm trying to find out why the dates in our regulations are different but they look like a much earlier revision.

Thanks for keeping us up to date Patrick, it is useful to know what is going on. Shame to loose Oulton Park for Mallory, I thought it was "our turn" to get a race there this season? Good spread of circuits though and pleased to see Castle Coombe on there. If we could get Mallory instead of one of the Snetterton weekends and reinstate Oulton that would be fantastic!

Thanks for posting the calendar up, Patrick. It helps me to start planning my year too. And it's looking good so far as the other series I cover, Britcar, has only 2 date clashes, one of which is their jaunt to Zolder. As it happens you guys will be abroad then too, well, Wales...

These dates are all single day as opposed to a weekend. I think I read somewhere that Super GT is running on one day with the MR2 Championship on the other. Is this still the case or is everyone racing on the same day?

Oh, and Happy Christmas everyone! :D
