I take it then patrick that we can no longer use oversize pistons when rebuilding engines or can we ?
a detailed list of rebuild tollerances would be a help
ie head skim, block skim, piston oversize, crank grind, con rod balance,
fly wheel lightening,

many thanks

Hi Chris,

The bible when it comes to what is and isn't allowed is the Toyota service manual. The tolerances and specifications listed here are all that are allowed. I'll see if I can put together a list of commonly required details but it will be a while coming. I'll also see if I can find the service manuals in an electronic format that can be distributed.

0.5mm oversize pistons are permitted for class A and B, as they are listed in the service manual and available from Toyota. The 1ZZ-FE engine used in class C is an aluminum block with cast in steel liners - no scope for repair is given in the service manual, only replacement. The ability to sleeve a block has been added to the regulations to allow for economical repair.

I'm also assuming this is something that the drivers need to be aware of -

5.5 Chassis
Towing eyes must be fitted front & rear and must have a minimum
internal diameter of 60mm; (note the tow eye may be of either a
suitable rigid or flexible material bolted to the chassis).

I had a lot look at the eyes on a mk1 today and they don't seem anywhere near big enough. Anyone else thought about it? If i remember correctly it wasn't that big?

Hi Chris,

I've queried this and was told that the towing eyes on an MR2 are more than sufficient. I will double check at Autosport and report back on the forum next week.

Our towing eyes are fine. If it's highlighted as a problem at a later date then we can have a fabric loop through the existing towing eye.

The engine regulations are sorted, but the technical reference for tolerances you requested is being compiled and will be available in the next couple of weeks.

The application of egg to faces is largely beyond the scope of the championship regs. ;)

Apologies chaps, but the advice above is incorrect. Please refer to the following:

Sorry to disagree patrick
the only regs that apply are 750mc and thats were technical regs should be found, as that is what scrutineering will be based on!!!
as 750 reg state std part and std pistons no overboring
